  • 610 CE: First revelation to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Cave of Hira
  • 622 CE: Hijra from Makkah to Madinah — start of the Islamic calendar
  • 632 CE: Passing of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH); Abu Bakr (RA) becomes first Caliph
  • 661–750 CE: Umayyad Caliphate — Islam spreads to Spain, Central Asia, Sindh
  • 750–1258 CE: Abbasid Caliphate — Golden Age of Islamic scholarship

Islamic History of Pakistan

Islam arrived in the region of modern-day Pakistan in 711 CE when Muhammad bin Qasim conquered Sindh. The Mughal Empire brought a golden era of Islamic culture and architecture including the Badshahi Mosque, Lahore.
